Jimmy Butler is injured. Derrick Rose was a late scratch before the game due to hamstring issues. Never mind.
The Chicago Bulls put together a game by committee with 7 players scoring in double-figures, to edge the Washington Wizards 109-104.
The Bulls figured to be ripe for the taking, but a strong third quarter propelled them to the win. At one point the team was ahead by 15. The lead was down to 9 late in the game, but Chicago held on for the win. It was their third consecutive win in a row.
Rose was held out just before the game, and it is appears he doesn’t have a serious injury. But, with his history, one has to be wary.
Pau Gasol played despite being under the weather and nearly had a triple-double. Gasol scored 10 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and had 9 assists. Taj Gibson scored 17 and E’Twaun Moore, thrust into a starting role, also had 17 points. Tony Snell started and scored 16 points. Mike Dunleavy, feeling more comfortable in his return to the court, added 14.
Doug McDermott playing more aggressively chipped in with 14 points and reserve guard Aaron Brooks had 11. Â McDermott addressed the team having a patchwork quilt lineup:
“It says a lot about our team, it’s not just one or two guys,” said McDermott.
The team hit 50% from the field, and out-rebounded the Wizards 50-42.
Bradley Beal led Washington with 19 points.
