Can you believe it? It’s so close you can almost taste it. After an agonizing four-and-a-half months, the NBA is set to return in just a week.
That means, it’s time for debates and arguments ahead of the league’s restart. And what better way to stir up the conversation than power rankings?
So without further ado, here are the Hardwood Nation’s NBA power rankings! They’re separated into six tiers of teams, divided on likelihood to contend for the NBA Championship. Expect new rankings each week of the restart.
Tier 1: Who Invited You?
22. Washington Wizards
Ohhhh Washington. What a bummer of a season for you guys. It might have been a good idea to let you go out to pasture and sit these eight games out, but for scheduling reasons, you’re still around…just without Bradley Beal. Bye-Bye to his 30 points per game. There’s some good news, you’re still in the lottery and a healthy John Wall should be back next season.
21. Brooklyn Nets
Fun Fact: Brooklyn is probably going to make the playoffs. And Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan, Spencer Dinwiddie will not participate in the Orlando festivities. As underrated as Caris LeVert is, he’s no Kyrie. Watch out for this team next year, but this year it’s a wash.
20. Phoenix Suns
The Suns have a promising young core. And Kelly Oubre Jr. may participate after surgery to repair a torn meniscus in March. This team will be fun to watch in the Orlando Bubble, but Phoenix’s roster is just too thin to compete with the big guns.
