Column: A Different July for the NBA

Specifically at this time the sport I’m speaking of is the NBA as we’re getting closer and closer to the NBA’s Disney season.

Soon all of these guys will convene in the Disney Bubble.

Having their practices right next to each other will be quite a different look to an NBA season that we’re used to.

The players of the NBA are in a great position and they know and understand that they can move the Black Live Matters movement along.

The National Basketball Association and the National Basketball Players Association recently agreed on messages that can be showcased on the back of teams’ jerseys.  Instead of ones’ last name messages such as the followed will be displayed and may I add, for all of the right reasons.

Black Lives Matter; Say Their Names; Vote; I Can’t Breathe; Justice; Peace; Equality; Freedom; Enough; Power to the People; Justice Now; Say Her Name; Sí Se Puede (Yes We Can); Liberation; See Us; Hear Us; Respect Us; Love Us; Listen; Listen to Us; Stand Up; Ally; Anti-Racist; I Am A Man; Speak Up; How Many More; Group Economics; Education Reform; and Mentor

Sports in general, whether it be the MLB or even Nascar have done a great job in going along with the Black Lives Matter movement.

Bubba Wallace, the one driver of color from Nascar, had their backing when he recently displayed loudly and proudly his message of Black Lives Matter and now with the relaunch of the NBA season the same can be done on an even bigger scale.  The NBA players will have the ultimate platform for them to get their word out and help heal a country that needs it as we celebrate the 4th.  Along with the selected messages that they can display on the back of their jerseys, Black Lives Matter will be displayed on every court, for the world to see.
