With the NBA’s relaunch fast approaching on July 31st, the Las Vegas odds makers sparked a rumor centered upon the return of not only the NBA but the possible return of Kevin Durant. Currently the Brooklyn Nets are seeded 7th in the NBA’s Eastern Conference and Vegas had them at 60-1 odds to win the NBA title. Would Durant alone be enough to propel the 7th seed Nets to an NBA Championship?
In the event of his return he’d have to lead his team without the on court help of running mate Kyrie Irving who will not make his return along side of 22 other teams that were invited to kick start the league in Orlando. Irving, who has shoulder surgery in March, will be out of action for the remainder of the NBA season.
With the entire world affected with the current pandemic Durant himself is a fully recovered survivor of Covid-19 and recently he spoke with The Undefeated about a possible NBA return this season.
“It’s just best for me to wait,” Durant said. “I don’t think I’m ready to play that type of intensity right now in the next month. It gives me more time to get ready for next season and the rest of my career.
“My season is over. I don’t plan on playing at all. We decided last summer when it first happened that I was just going to wait until the following season. I had no plans of playing at all this season.”
Despite the fact that the Nets will be without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, they’ll definitely be a tough out for the top tier teams during the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
