Pelicans Sweep the Trail Blazers

On Saturday, the New Orleans Pelicans became the first team to advance to the second round of this season’s NBA Playoffs.  The sixth seed Pelicans swept the third seed Blazers to advance.

The New Orleans Pelicans finished the series on their homecourt. The series finished with a 131-123 victory of the Blazers. Pelicans Forward/Center Anthony Davis led the team with 47 points and 11 rebounds alongside of guard Jrue Holiday who scored 41. During the Game 4 victory the duo combined for 88 points.

The Pelicans also received contributions from their other starters. Forward E’Twaun Moore scored 14 points. Forward Nikola Mirotic scored 10 points and playoff veteran point guard Rajon Rondo scored 7 points along with a stellar 16 assists.

The Pelicans will now play the winner of the first-round series of the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. The Warriors and Spurs are currently playing as the Warriors go for the sweep but anything is possible.

Anthony Davis and the Pelicans surprised me. I expected them to win games, but I did not know they were going to sweep the Blazers. The Pelicans proved that they are a talented team that fans should keep an eye on. Whoever is their second-round opponent should not take them lightly. Or else, they’ll end up like the Blazers.
