Appling, 24, was arrested at about 9 p.m. Sunday on Detroit’s east side after first driving away from a traffic stop and then stopping his car following a short pursuit, Detroit police said in a news release this morning.
Sgt. Michael Woody said in the news release that police stopped Appling’s blue 2013 Dodge Challenger after observing him commit a traffic violation at Russell and Seven Mile. The officers pursued and stopped the vehicle at Orleans and East. State Fair and took Mr. Appling into custody without further incident, police said.
Police noticed a Gucci bag that had been on the rear seat was now missing from the vehicle. Backtracking, the found the bag on the side of the road with a loaded semi-automatic Berretta inside along with paperwork with Appling’s name.
