The Value of Tristan Thompson

Cavalier fans are waiting for the return of tenacious rebounder, Tristan Thompson.  But one has to wonder… Is he really worth it?

The Cavs just finished their first scrimmage last night, October 7th, against former Eastern Conference Finals opponent…the Atlanta Hawks, and Thompson still did not hit the court.  LeBron James has recently called this situation a distraction and posted a picture of both him and Thompson with the caption, “Get it done!!!! Straight up. #MissMyBrother @realtristan13”.  Obviously, The King wants his big man back as well as the entire city of Cleveland.

Thompson wants a 5 year, $94 million max deal from Cleveland while the Cavs are still offering the 5 year, $80 million that Thompson has declined multiple times throughout the off-season.  “Double-T” is asking for way too much money for a guy that averaged 8.5 points and 8.0 rebounds a game last season.  His impact was felt more so throughout the playoffs once All Star Kevin Love got injured with a dislocated shoulder in the first round.  Thompson’s contributions are undeniable, though.  His chemistry with LeBron, Kyrie, J.R., and Delly are irreplaceable.  The Cavs and Thompson need to get a deal done soon.  The city and fans are waiting; not only for Thompson, but for their first championship in over fifty years.
