Steve Kerr’s decision to coach Golden State seems a good one. He turned down the head coaching job in New York, offered by Knicks’ honcho Phil Jackson. The Warriors have won 11 games in a row, and carry a league best 16-2 record into the game.
The Warriors have the pure shooter Stephan Curry, who can light it up from anywhere. TNT analyst Reggie Miller marveled at Curry’s touch recently. It takes a great shooter to know one. Klay Thompson, the small forward is the second half of the dangerous duo. The Warriors lead the NBA in shooting percentage, assists, point differential (10.9) and blocked shots. Kerr has them playing great.
Chicago may get Taj Gibson back from his latest setback with a sprained ankle. The same one he injured earlier in the season. Gibson can do the little things great and his rebounding has been missed. Pau Gasol continues to get double-doubles almost every game. He has taken some of the defensive pressure off of Joakim Noah, who has his share of body hurts.
Derrick Rose has somewhat altered his style of play, taking a long two or trey instead of barreling into the low post. He hasn’t scored big numbers, but he doesn’t have to. However, with Rose in the lineup the Bulls are a much better team.
This is going to be a test for Chicago.
